What We Believe
First Baptist Church of Kingstowne is committed to the authority of God’s Word, the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the faith once delivered unto the saints.
Our beliefs are rooted in the Word of God.
At First Baptist Church of Kingstowne, we believe the Bible is the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice. What we believe shapes how we worship, how we serve, how we organize as a church, and how we carry out the Great Commission.
This page provides a summary of several important beliefs that we preach, teach, and practice (e.g., doctrines) regarding salvation, baptism, the Lord's supper, church offices, church authority, the return of Christ, and the relationship between the church and civil government.
Beliefs We Teach and Practice
Theses statements summarize our beliefs concerning salvation, baptism, the Lord's supper, the church, its leadership, and its hope in Christ.
Salvation
We believe that the depraved sinner is saved wholly by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe that regeneration requires repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation is not earned by human effort or works, but is the gracious work of God through the gospel and the new birth.
Through Christ, sinners are forgiven, made alive by the Spirit, and brought into a new relationship with God.
Baptism & the Lord’s Supper
We believe that there are only two scriptural ordinances practiced in the Lord’s Churches: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
Scriptural baptism is the immersion of a believer in water, administered by the authority of a New Testament Church in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Baptism is a pictorial ordinance symbolizing our faith in the crucified, buried, and resurrected Savior. It is a public declaration of our acceptance of God’s call to service and discipleship in a local New Testament church.
The Lord’s Supper is a New Testament Church memorial ordinance, remembering the death of Christ, observed by members of the local church. The Lord’s Supper symbolizes the broken body and shed blood of Jesus Christ commemorated by the taking of unleavened bread and fruit of the vine.
Church Offices
We believe that there are two divinely appointed offices in a church: Pastors and Deacons, to be filled by men whose qualifications are set forth in the Scriptures.
Church Authority
We believe that all associations, fellowships, and committees of such are, and properly should be, servants of and under the control of the participating churches.
The End Times
We believe in the premillennial, personal, bodily return of Christ as the crowning event of the Gentile age. This event will include the bodily resurrection of His saints followed by the Millennial reign of Christ on earth.
Government
We believe in freedom of worship without interference from the government and affirm our belief in civil obedience.
Rooted in Scripture
Our doctrine is not based on preference, tradition, or culture, but on the authority of God’s Word. The Bible shapes our faith, our practice, our worship, and our mission as a local church. In our preaching and teaching ministries, First Baptist Church of Kingstowne uses the King James Version of the Bible.
We desire to be a church that is grounded in Scripture, centered on Christ, and committed to the gospel.
Grounded. Centered. Ordered. Committed.
These principles help guide our church as we worship God, serve one another, and carry the gospel into the world.
Grounded
We are grounded in the authority and sufficiency of Scripture.
Centered
We are centered on the person and work of Jesus Christ.
Ordered
We believe the church should follow the pattern and authority of the New Testament.
Committed
We are committed to the gospel, the Great Commission, and faithful local church life.
