Featured Missionary: Steve and Lois Donley

Originally from Ohio, Steve and Lois Donley have been involved in missions above the Arctic circle since 1989. All but three of those years have been in actual Arctic residence. Their ministry has primarily been in the western Canadian Arctic, with some time in Alaska as well.

Currently, they serve in Tuktoyaktuk, an village in the upper portion of Canada’s Northwest Territories, along the shores of the Arctic Ocean. “Tuk”, as it is known, has a cold subarctic climate, with temperatures below freezing for most of the year, and lows around twenty below zero during the winter months. The population is almost entirely Inuit, the indigenous people of the region.

The Donley’s have been working in Tuk for a few years now, and recently made the move to be there year-round (living in a camper!). The church has a building and has been growing, with attendance averaging in the twenties.

You can learn more about the Donleys at their website, iceroadpreacher.ca.
