Featured Missionary: Len and Liliana Curtis

Len Curtis has been a missionary to Latin America for more than thirty years. He first served in Chile, starting a number of churches there, including what are now the largest Baptist churches in Chile. Later he moved to Colombia to plant churches there. All along, his approach has been to not build churches dependent on American missionaries and money, but to establish indigenous churches that could grow and reproduce themselves.

A couple of years ago, his ministry in Colombia hit a roadblock when he was taken at gunpoint and threatened with death if he did not leave the country. He and his family did leave temporarily, and he took a pastoral position with a struggling church in Arlington, Texas. But Colombia was never far from his heart, and God moved to bring him back to Latin America. Just last week, following a year of deputation, the Curtis family  returned to Colombia to continue the work there.
