Featured Missionary: Edgar and Clara Rubio

June 16, 2014 at 5:05 PM

This week's featured missionary family is Edgar and Clara Rubio from Ibarra, Ecuador.

Originally from Bogota, Columbia, Edgar Rubio has been a missionary across the border in the country of Ecuador since January 2007. He has been working in the Imbabura province, home to the Quechua people. He works as a “circuit missionary”, preaching and teaching at a number of mission points throughout the province. In addition to doing evangelism work, Brother Rubio works with several local men that have surrendered to become pastors.  He teaches and trains them, preparing them to take over the mission points and establish indigenous churches throughout the area. The goal is to eventually have a church in each of the 250 Quechuan communities in Imbabura.

Recently, the ministry took a big step with the purchase of a property in Ibarra, the capital city of the Imbabura province. The property is being used to house a church (Missionary Baptist Church of Ibarra) and a seminary, and serves as the center for further outreach into Ecuador.
