"Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed, for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." (Joshua 1:9)
The men and women of our Armed Forces, and their families, play a significant role at Kingstowne Baptist. The church is located just a short distance from Fort Belvoir, home to a number of important military organizations. Belvoir is the largest employer in the county, with nearly twice the number of workers as the Pentagon. We are close to a number of other installations as well, including the US Coast Guard Station Alexandria, the Pentagon, Fort Myer, Fort McNair, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, and Marine Corps Base Quantico. The church also draws from the Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies located in the area.
A large proportion of our membership are active duty or retired military and their families. This gives us a sensitivity to the special needs of military families, including extended deployments, non-traditional work patterns, and frequent relocation. The church actively reaches out to Fort Belvoir for ministry opportunities, and the Pastor serves on the Chaplaincy Committee of the American Baptist Association. We are proud to serve the men and women of our Armed Forces, and we are proud to offer them a place to serve God.
